Can anyone tell me if the problem with flies throughout the summer in Sucina and Hacienda Requelmie has improved - I did hear that the residents were talking to the local mayor / farmers to try and improve it. We really do like the area but it is the one main thing that is putting us off buying there.

Regards

Jon

It's no worse than any hot arrid country. It's a countryside location, of course you will get a few flies. It's no where near as bad as the drama queens make out though

Hi Jon

I must be the ‘drama queen’ that this Beanie is referring to in her post to you. Having been here a  VERY short time I do not think she is remotely qualified to answer your question on flies. If she thinks it is a small problem with a ‘few’ flies then I hate to think where in the country she lived before and what she has been used to! Take heed from a resident of some 3 years that the flies will be here in abundance. Best spend the summer renting and see for yourself in my opinion. Many people live in and around here and tolerate the problem. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi Jonny.

We purchased a house in Sucina in Feb 18 and love it. We’d also read the various threads about the flies and we’re a little concerned but honestly, there’s nothing to worry about.

You do get flies as soon as the weather warms up and yes, they are a constant, but not to the degree of ‘swarms’ which I believe I’d read in some posts.

What you tend to experience is a few flies constantly hanging around you but this wasnt anything new to us whenever we’ve been to a hot country.

Prior to buying in Sucina we’d spent a week in Bolnuevo in Almeria and we experienced the exact same thing there so Sucina is no different.

In a perfect world they wouldn’t be there but for us it’s a (very) small price to pay for such a lovely location.

Hope this helped.

It seems the older people get...the more childish they become. As you are never off this forum please concentrate on INFORMATIVE answers and stop being so immature. Do not bother replying to this post...it won’t be read

Seeing as Lynne wont be returning, I do in all honesty think the problem is isolated to her property as we have not experienced anything remotely like what has been described

Sucina is a lovely place and it's a shame the odd individual tries to put people off.

I've noticed it features on 'homes in the sun' more and more and will become even more popular. There are a few area or that are in desperate need of development or a tidy up, but in time it will happen

Hi

I really don't want to cause you all to fall out and start slagging each other...that really isn't the point of this forum

I just want the honest truth

We had a meal at Requelmie last year outside the resturaunt and it really was horrendous with the flies

It is a lovely place but we really could not stand that sort of problem and unfortunately will look closer to the coast

We fly out tomorrow and will be staying in Lid Alcazares for a week to continue our search

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know but please be constructive and not abusive

Kind regards

Jon

Hi Jon

Sorry you had to be part of that. I was only trying to put my opinion across. You say you saw the problem for yourself on an occasion. The situation is all through the hot weather (summer) here inland. It doesn’t help the fact we have a dung heap (fertiliser plant) on the edge of Sucina either. The coast is a much better option I think. There is a great coastline along Los Alcazares and beyond so happy house hunting.

Hi Lynne

Not a problem

I think we know what the problem is but because Requelmie is such a nice place we were trying to convince ourselves that it was right for us.

Some penthouses have come up for sale at a really good price but I really don't think we ought to pursue them as we love being outside and the thought of being inundated by flies while trying to eat would drive us crazy

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated we will continue our search in los Alcazares

Kind regards

Jon
