Hi

If you purchase on a golf resort are you then responsible for any debt associated with the resort along with other owners.

Many thanks

Absolutely not...the actual golf courses are privately owned and nothing to do with the properties. Some resorts have long abandoned golf courses but there are still occupied villies on the site

In my opinion I think you are liable for community debts, (for instance if a community only had 50% of owners, who would pay for any communal lighting which presumably would light up the whole complex as it isn't guaranteed that all the occupied properties are side by side? it wouldn't be reduced by 50% just because the properties are empty, similar with swimming pool, security etc), You would not be liable for any debts on your property provided your Lawyer has done due diligence.  I would check with someone with legal knowledge of community law. If there isn't anyone on here you could ask Maria de Castro who posts on the eyeonspain website.
