Hello I am moving to Spain in September with my two dogs... Anyone know where in Isla plana is the vet and how I would go to register them? Is it the same as the UK.

Thank you Amanda

In my experience, I don't think you need to register with a vet, as you would do in the UK.

I use Clinica Veterinaria, Avenida Costa Calida, Puerto de Mazarron, 30860, Tel: 968 153 931, which is not too far from Isla Plana and I would certainly recommend them.

Hope this helps!

Hi.We have just moved to Murcia with our dog. You do need to Register at the Vets as the chip needs to have details updated Also certain breeds are considered “dangerous” and need to be registered at the Town Hall and the Owner has to take a test to show they are a competent  owner!!!!!More paperwork!

Apologies - I was thinking from my perspective, as I rescued my dog from the pound and as part of the adoption process he was chipped, vaccinated, etc. on my behalf.

No apologies needed…..that info is good to know as we will probably get another dog from a rescue centre!

Under Spanish law, every dog, cat or ferret needs to be microchipped and registered in the Animal Identification Registry or Registro de Animales de Compañía.   And you will be issued with a doggy passport and an Identification Card.  Much like the ones issued as human ID cards.  See piccie below.    Just visit any vet, and they will take all the details, give you the vaccination passport and register your dog officially.
