We’re considering buying a property in Isla Plana but haven't visited there yet…! We’re looking for a town that has a few bars and restaurants but still feels Spanish and not too touristy, would it be a good place to consider? We don’t want to have a car while there so are wondering about bus links to nearby places.

Hi, we visit Isla Plana and La Azohia regularly as they are the nearest coastal towns to us.  They are beautiful locations but they lack a lot of infrastructure (banks, supermarkets, bars, restaurants etc) which you may find you need to operate/live in Spain.  We live in rural Spain (Mula) but ours is a working town and not touristy like Isla Plana  We much prefer having the infrastructure, normality of a working town and year round coffee culture, surrounded by Spanish residents. But, each to their own, and you do have both Mazzaron and Puerto de Mazzaron nearby which are busier.  I can't advise enough that you should rent before you buy as it's easy to make an expensive mistake. Also, what you think you want can turn out to be very different to what you actually want.  Good luck and hope this helps x

Thank you so much for your reply, the information is what I needed. I think the plan will be to book a longer rental and visit a few areas to get a feel for it all.

The best and only advice about moving anywhere in Spain is to visit several times or preferably rent for a few weeks at different times of the year.

Yes rent and have a good look at all areas. We ended up buying in a golf resort near a busy town Sucina. Hacienda requelme. We liked it as closer to Alicante Airport and Murcia Airport and feels the most up and coming

Hi

I bought in Isla Plana last year and have not regretted it. I like that it’s small and has plenty of restaurants etc for me. Where I live everything is only 15 minutes walk away including the bus which goes into Puerto de Mazarron where you can get ongoing services to Murcia and on to Mazarron town. Try it and see, each to his own, rent loads of places and at different times to see what you like. Good Luck I am sure you will find somewhere you like it’s a beautiful country.

San Pedro del Pinatar is a good sized town with plenty of supermarkets, banks, coffee places, restaurants and very Spanish with some ex pats but not obviously so. Fabulous walks and a bus service, taxies and good cycling routes.

I agree with the advice to rent given by others' here.

Gosh that must be the longest sentence I ever wrote in my life🫢. I plead leniency on the grounds that it's after 3:00am☺️
