We are arriving at Alicante airport late afternoon on new years eve and travelling to Isla Plana.   Please can you advise what time the main supermarkets will be closing on that day so we can stock up as I know they will all be closed on the 1st.

Many thanks

All the main supermarket chains have their opening hours over the Christmas period, shown on their websites.

Remember the travelling time from .Alicante to Isla Plana, curfew is 10pm so not much time for a full supermarket shop.

Remember that some people’s posts on here are muffled - the sound cannot get out of their trousers…..there is no curfew.

We were told two weeks ago by the licensee of two local establishments, one in Fuente Alamo the other in .Camposol that bars  & restaurants close at 8pm giving staff and customers chance to get home before curfew at 10pm. Oh and I forgot last Sunday lunchtime at a restaurant in Puerto de Mazarron.

Before commenting on the post I researched all the government bulletins and could find nothing about a current curfew anywhere in Spain. I prefer to take note of official posts on laws and such rather than the word of a village restauranteur!

If anyone could publish a link to an official source it would be great.

Having said that, depending on the flight time it may be best to do a shop as soon as you land. Google "supermarkets near Alicante airport" then check out their entry nearer the time to see what their hours will be?

There is no curfew here that I'm aware of otherwise restaurants would not be taking bookings for new years eve. Alley palais for one are selling tickets for nye

Are you sure that they were not referring to last year?

Try Tel’s Bar Sector A, the Argentinian restaurant in the port, the tapas & bar by the church in Fuente, have they all got Murcia restrictions wrong?

Tels bar decided to close at 8pm when new restrictions came in as their bar is small and its too cold to sit outside so not worth them staying open any later.

Nothing at all to do with a curfew. Below is from their own face book page

Due to the new restrictions of the inside capacity

and the cold nights we will be closing on an evening at 8pm, sorry for any inconvenience
