Safest way to be certain of getting it right is to chat to a solicitor/specialist. They will know current costs and requirements.  Don't listen to "the man down the pub", often out or date or just plain incorrect info from him.

We used corral and Alcataz for our purchase and on through to our residencia and driving licence change. I know it costs more than doing it for yourself but with our very limited, as yet, Spanish we were more than happy to pay to get it right first time.

Sorry, it was all bundled in with everything else, still waiting for itemized account once last bit of paperwork sorted. Give them a call and sure they can give you a ball park figure. You will need some passport sized photos ready to hand for the residencia appointment, we got ours done at Best Wishes here in Camposol.

To obtain Residency, my wife and I had to produce documentation to demonstrate

- that we had healthcare (our medical insurance documents)

- that our income met the required level (we had statements from our Spanish bank)

- that we had paid the required fee at a bank

- that we had padrons and NIEs

- that we owned a home in Spain (or had a long-term lease)

- we also needed passport photos

We used a gestor. The staff at the police station expected to deal with us in Spanish.
