We are a couple in our mid 50 s, we are thinking about buying a property in la manga club and using it for a few years and also  renting it out to cover the yearly costs.

I have a few questions please.

Is this club a good place to retire to, do they have all year residents staying there, especially in the winter months.

Are all the restaraunt and facilities open all year round.

Is there plenty to do.

Is it a good place to make friends.

Thank you in advance

These so called resort's are built for the holiday maker in mind...not as a residential /full time living as they tend to cater for tourists that only require a few facilities to get them through the weeks holiday....you should also make inquires as most of the golf club type resorts are classed as Touristic and not Residential ....you cannot live in a Touristic classified property full time ...if you intend retiring in Spain look on a residential urbanization with all the services for day to day living near by /buses/taxis/supermarkets/pharmacy /entertainment and most important  permanent resident's...so called golf resorts tend to turn into ghost towns in the winter.

Thats really good advice, thank you

If I am doing a search for houses on  urbanisations, what would I put in the search engine, excuss me for being a bit dense its just I have spend soo long looking at houses and different areas my head is spinning with it all.

I like the look of the Murcia area,  seems to have plenty going on and prices are a little less.

Your advice is much appreciated and thank you for taking the time.

Just steer clear of anything that has resort in the title especially so called golf resorts.. Look for the term urbanisation or gated community good luck.

Hi depends what you intend doing. (this is only my opinion) If you don't play golf then what's the point, and if you do then your need plenty of money.

If your looking at rental then I'd suggest looking at a village by the sea, your easy be able to rent if you want some income back.

We are in Mar de Cristal and have been there for ten years, it's lovely Spanish village but close to shop's, tennis club and the Mar Menor which is very popular with the Spanish.

Also not far from La Manga strip or Cabo de Palos which is a lovely fishing port.

You need to spend time out there to see the area.

Good luck

Perhaps buy an apt on Hacienda Riquelme. It is safe, sociable and there are lots of activities, for further advice please contact me.

Hi

la Manga Club is very well known, in fact I did not even see you mention "resort" as frequentflyer has suggested, it is a very expensive area with many amenity's.

Possibly you are aware that the English Football team go there to train quite often, also so they can relax and play a round or two of golf.

As for looking for places with  gated communities or urbanisations, again as frequentflyer suggested, within there title that is very misleading, in fact when Camposol was first built it was supposed to be a "Gated Community"

As Stuart very wisely stated it is worth checking the area out.

La Manga Strip is very quiet in the winter and has a very short season, however there is a great market near the beginning  of the strip, at Cabo De Palos every Sunday.

I personally would not like to live at La Manga Club however if you are looking for a holiday home with very good rental potential this would be ideal.

Good luck with your search

Kind regard

ED

I am sure that the replies you have had so far are not from people who live there. There are many residents who live there all year round.  Spanish, English and from numerous other counties. Unlike most resorts, it has a supermarket, two banks, bars and restaurants, chemist as well as other shops.. Just as important, 1st class security..

It is more like a small town with every development different to the next. From multi million pound villas to £100,000 apartments.

Everyone is very friendly and helpfull

Busy in the summer and school holiday time to quieter other times but always people there.

Prices are a little more there in some restaurants but Los Belones  and the Harbour are just down the road to give a great choice.

You get what you pay for and I would not choose anywhere else.

I only have good stories coming from La Manga Club. I have done business with many residents and they always speak very highly of it.

I would however do a bit of travelling around and see for yourself which is the best location. What is suitable for one is not always suitable for another.

Retirtement is all about relaxing and enjoying life after a time of slogging away. Dont start it badly by picking the wrong location.

Hi,

I'm seriously thinking of buying a 3 bed, 4 bath semi detached villa in Apartamentos Montemares. I'll only be using it for a few months a year, at first, but I'm wondering how much demand there is for short term rentals. Any information would be of help.
