I received a letter early this year from Bankia seemingly advising of new bank charges. I say seemingly because, despite the letter having been from the overseas residents section of the bank and addressed to my UK home, it was in Spanish. It was informing of an account referred to as a 'Por Ser Tu'. I emailed the address given if making a query, asking for the information to be supplied in English. But the response did not clarify my eligibility. Can anyone shed light on this account?

On a related Bankia matter I am wanting to reduce my charges by closing one of my two accounts with them but am being told that they won't be handling any such matters until things are back to normal. When I asked does this mean I will get reimbursed of charges to the account made in the interim they could not provide an answer.

Por se tu, simply means 'for you'.

If you have a scanner, you could scan the letter, save it as a pdf and then use google translate to read & translate the pdf. Alternatively, you could re-type the letter into google translate to understand what it says..?

It's a 6 page document unfortunately. Google translate only seems to allow me to get a translation a few words at a time.

If you use the Google translate app not the desktop translate you can hold your smartphone over a document and view an instant translation.

A shockingly powerful tool.

It was recommended by somebody on here to be honest.

Bankia have started to deduct a monthly fee of 14 euros - anyone else had this happen.

Any suggestions for a different Bank - without fees?

Cheers

They told me in January about this charge.

I closed the account.

Opened a Cajamar Wefferent account

No charges if you use it online.

You get a debit card.

Use the search facility on here there is loads of info about opening this account.

I was also told in january about the new charging in a letter sent to me at my home (UK) address - unfortunately the letter I received was in Spanish so I had no idea about the detail. Requests by email for a translation fell on deaf ears. Being unable to get back to Spain for obvious reasons I have so far just rode with the extra costs. These are not insubstantial since I have two accounts with Bankia and am getting charged on both. I have asked that the two accounts be merged but was told that they are too busy under current circumstances to have the time to do so.

I managed to get my account with Bankia closed before lockdown....luckily.

Re translating documents.

If you have a smartphone download the Google translate app onto it.

When you  open the app touch the camera icon, hold your phone over the document & you will be able to view an instant translation on the screen.

Awesome bit of technology !!
