Can anyone help
When you buy a car private and use a solicitor any guidelines on their price
Does it depend on size of engine or cost of the car etc

It depends on the solicitor. Size of car doesn't matter its the same paperwork. So its their fee. A gestor would be cheaper.

The gestoría's charges include the taxes due for the change of ownership and these are based on the price of the vehicle. Some people do declare a lower price than they are really paying and then take a small part payment of cash in hand outside the office after the sale has been completed.

Before you buy any secondhanded car in Spain it is worth doing a check on the actual history a company called CARFAX will for a small charge (I think if you have never used them the first check is free) will supply a complete report, how many owners, mileage, has it been stolen or damaged etc. I was buying a car from a Ford garage and they told me the car had 2 owners after a check I found it had 7.

You can of course change the ownership yourself at Traffico in Cartagena the cost of a car in 2021 was 54.60 euro or use a Gestor which would be cheaper than a solicitor.

Many thanks for this I have gone to a gestor who has done the checks and found that their are unpaid fines which means the seller cannot sell the car until this has been paid so yes worth it
I have bought 2 cars here and Paul does all the transfer as part of the sale. Highly recommended. I traded in my old car for the new one.

Always complaining about specialist cars most people who use the site regular have seen this moan many times
If the law was on your side why did you lose money. And not follow through
I am quite sure there are many people that have been very happy with that company, they would not have been in business for so many years if they gave a bad service,
