Hi we are researching areas to possibly move to in rural Spain.. La pinilla looks like a nice quiet village which is what we are looking for.. Can anyone tell us if there is a shop/mini Market in the village.

Thank you

Hi SMP,

Like with a lot of little Spanish villages, there's more to La Pinilla than you might think at first glance! There are a couple of café-bars, a small shop that sells all your basics, a medical centre (usually only a couple of mornings a week, but still useful), and a tobacconist. There is a 'casa cultura', but it has been a bit on-and-off in recent years.

There are other villages within a 10-minute or so drive - Las Palas and Cuevas de Reyllo - both of which also have chemists and village stores. Fuente Álamo is about 15 minutes' drive away, and has a much larger range of services, including 24-hour medical centre and 3 larger supermarkets (Mercadona, Día and Consum).

If you want access to British facilities, Camposol is about 15 minutes' drive from La Pinilla.

All in all, it is a good place to start life in Spain. You can immerse yourself in Spanish life and culture if you're ready for that, but you still have easy access to British facilities if you need it.

Good luck with your search and your new life in Spain!

Regards,
Rachel

Like most places in the world you can use Google Earth to "drive" around the streets of the town.

Haha, that's true Gloria! I suppose in my defence I was answering more from the point of view of having lived 15 years near La Pinilla than as an estate agent - it is Sunday after all!!! I tended to head more toward Fuente Álamo than Camposol simply because when I first moved there Camposol didn't have the great range of services it has now.

Hi we completed on our house purchase in La Pinilla in July this year.  Holiday home at present but planning to move there  once retired! If you want proper rural village life with amenities it is a great place. Local food/butcher on Calla Mayor just of the main street, further up the road is a hardware/cleaning produce shop.  As previously advised there is a community centre/bar which serves food and 2 bars-not rowdy, frequented by mainly locals.  There are some ex pats but not over run.

Come and join us :)
