Non resident account fees Bankia - Page 2

Hi All

It seems very simple to open the N26 account online but i wonder what the process is for all my existing Direct debits set up with Bankia?

Will there be issues or should it be s straight forward process carried out by N26 not left to me to do it?

I also bank with Bankia so contacted N26 today but unfortunately whilst they offer free banking, they do not provide any sort of switching service whereby existing Direct debits are transferred across.

Someone also recommended Starling to me but I have checked and it is the same situation with them.

So why not just cancel each direct debit & set a new one up with your new bank account ??

I guess a switching service would give me a greater peace of mind that there are not going to be any issues with new direct debits being set up and getting the timing right on cancelling the old direct debits to ensure bills do not go unpaid.

I'm guessing the insurance they want you to take out is their insurance.  Be careful - the bank staff get good commission on these policies and they sell hard.  ~I wouldn't take it unless it represents good value and you need it.  Not all bank policies are bad though so it would be worth doing your homework on that one.

Hi, I am very interested in this post (even a year later on) as BANKIA continue to take the proverbial mickey out of non-residential banking customers and the charges are now 16 euro per month!!!

BANKIA are due to merge with CAIXA which scares me after the last merger screwed my direct debits and my trust in them was shattered and a big catch-up in spanish basura and local fees.

Has anyone any good news or another spanish bank that may treat its customers financially better?

Yes.

Open a Cajamar Wefferent account or use Wise.com for all your Direct Debits.

You don't actually need a Spanish bank account these days.

Search for 'Free Banking' or 'Banking ' at the to pf this page lots of info there for you.

The only snag is that you have to go into a branch of Cajamar to open the Wefferent account.

Unless they have changed anything lately.
