Hi Alan99,

I am very surprised you have not had a response to your query.

Gea y Truyols had a similar amount of rain as the coastal areas but the lay of the land with its many slopes did not have an undue effect as most flood water washed down the ramblas.

The RM/F19 from Sucina to the Junction of the RM/F13 lost parts of the road in several places, washed away. and as usual suffered deep flooding. For a few days the road was impassable.

However as most of the local roads quickly dried out and are now passable with care.

La Torre Golf resort and United Golf were badly affected with the heavy rain and there are ongoing recovery procedures.

Although you are asking about Gea y Truyols you show your area as Alhama de Mercia. Unfortunately I do not know know how this area has been affected.

There are now many videos being posted on youtube & facebook. Information has been scarce due to power cuts and lack of internet.

The fact that these videos are now appearing is  hopefully a sign that locals are recovering.

The coastal areas of the Mar Menor have been devastated and will take much effort and time to recover. Unfortunately most of those pleasant playa walkways have disappeared. At the moment the sea of the Mar Menor looks very different.

The folk in these local resorts have suffered total devastation, to see is heart rendering. The Army have been drafted in to help removing large waste and teams of volunteers are helping digging out the sludge from residents accommodation. I too have been helping on a daily basis.

If anyone lived a foot or so above the flood line they escaped without damage. Unfortunately these properties are in a small minority.

We have Spanish and English friends in Los Alcazares, What has happened to their properties, their possessions and their cars is unbelievable. Even the hardiest of recovery people have been reduced to tears.

However the residents have been there before, perhaps not as bad, but they will recover, the coastal resorts will return again, the residents are all helping each other they are fantastic people.

I hope your property is okay and I wish you well, regards, Al

Would the estate agent not be prepared to go check for you?

Hi Alan,

as you now know your property is safe.

When I researched La Tercia I found that our properties are at least 160m above sea level.

Heavy rain drains off each side of the Town down the Rambla`s.

Even in the latest Gota fria's the most we suffered was wet roads.

You have nothing to worry about. But you must keep your drain on the top solarium clean.

The amount of rain we sometimes get is more than the drain can take, especially if it is partly or completely blocked. Keep it clean and flush down with a hosepipe!

The solarium's on these properties can quickly fill, inches deep. It then soaks through the door seals and you get water cascading down the staircase into your lounge. Not nice.

However, take caution.

The RM19 from Sucina to Valle quickly floods , dangerously so, and within minutes the road is impassable both ways from La Tercia. Many have got stranded, flooded cars and unable to get back to La Tercia. Not pleasant at midnight on a moonless night.

Repairs and alteration have been carried out and it remains to be seen whether the improvements work or not.

I just do not take the car out when heavy rain is forecast. Much easier.

Hope this helps you and others,

regards, Al

Hi there, I was looking at a property in La Tercia village I take it that is the area that you are taking about. Are there any reviews regarding the urbanisation in the village. Think it is cake New La Tercia. Thanks IN advance
