My Husband has just become resident finally after 8 month waiting.  I am resident and pay the Spanish government for my health care. 60€ a month. My husband asked a friend who was going to the medical centre to fine out how he register to get the vaccine. The people at the medical centre stated that he can not register even though he was on the pardon. They are stating that he needs to get a document from his insurance company. But cannot tell us which document.

Can someone tell us how do we over come this or he won’t get his vaccine at all.

Im afraid the insurance companies are saying they can’t help. We’ve been told that we need to apply at the local health centre and get a temporary SIP, you apparently need a padron that is no more than 3 months old. I’m not holding my breath though.

The Spanish government has apparently said that all residents will be vaccinated, whether or not they are in the social security system. There have been quite a few announcements on this subject, made on the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain's Facebook group and various posters say that they have been issued with a temporary SIP card from their local centro de salud in order to get their vaccination, when the time comes. If you are not a member of this group, then I would recommend that you join, as there is up-to-date information available, issued from both the UK and the Spanish governments. Here's a recent article from El Pais. https://english.elpais.com/society/2021-03-15/covid-19-vaccines-for-uk-nationals-in-spain-what-the-british-embassy-says.html

It great that the Spainish government has said this. The problem is if you have someone who does not know the rules in your loca medical centre and is very rude and difficult at the best of times. We have now written to our local Mayor to see if she can help but really holding my breath. Will put her reply on when we get one.

To be honest if the uk restrictions are eased and your prepared to pay you are far better off going back to the UK for the Jab. A friend of mine is a volunteer jabber in the UK and he says unofficially that are now doing the 30 somethings. Here in spain they still on the 100s. Lol. I think you've got more chance of winning the lottery than getting the vaccine here anytime soon.

Unfortunately doctors receptionists are the same the world over; rude and seem to think they know as much as doctors who've had 10 years of training.

The UK govt web site over the weekend issued information for those living in Spain but not yet registered for healthcare...it said to go onto this web site and complete the forms which I have..

https://portalsalud.carm.es/portalsalud/principal/inicio#extranjeros

This will apparently register British who only have private healthcare to enable them to get vaccine here. It was issued at 5.30pm UK time on 16th April 2021 on UK Gov website, "SPAIN TRAVEL ADVICE" on its Coronavirus page.

I am waiting to hear via text so will let you know if I hear anything...and just so you know, once you complete the form, you have two options, first to SAVE it, which i assume sends it to where it should go, or to delete it.

Good luck

I posted details of this website on a separate post about two weeks ago, the day after I registered my details on the website.

A week later I got my first jab, although apparently it does depend on age. Last week they did 70+ and 60-64 year olds. (not sure age range this week, but you will get an SMS message and/or call to attend when it is your turn. May vary dependent on exact area you are in. Obviously need a Spanish mobile number too)

Good luck
