Visit first or rent for a few weeks…mostly empty properties, there is no golf course and its not near to any reasonably sized town. You need to find out for yourself before committing to a purchase.

My advice is don't do it. The reason the properties are so cheap is because it is a ghost town. Pay extra and buy in a real Spanish village.

It might be worth looking at 'La Nueva Tercia'. The properties that were built years ago and unsold, have been renovated to a high standard (so I'm told!), and are being sold by the bank at some very reasonable prices.

These are mainly three or four bedroom, two bathroom semis.

Hi,

I actually live there and love it! Yes, it is quiet but there are lots of places to visit nearby. We always say you can always find lively places but you can’t always find peace and quiet! We also have 24 hour security, beautifully kept gardens and eight well kept swimming pools. The properties are all high spec too.

I notice that Bill1 says not to touch it with a barge pole. I notice, however, that he lives in Los Urrutias which is about a 40 minute journey away and not the nicest of places, except for Ruf-Mari restaurant, so with respect not sure he is the best person to comment.

The other advice to visit, rent and look around the area is good.

I would just add that UGR is 5 minutes away from the town of Balsicas which has everything you need, shops, banks, dentists, beauty shops, dress shops, banks, bars, restaurants etc. Yes, you need a car but isn’t that the case wherever you live?

I hope that this helps and good luck with your search.

Hi Lynn, Thank you for your enthusiastic vote of confidence! Yes I do now live in Los Urrutias, which is wonderful, BUT in 2018 and 2019 I visited several properties on United Golf with the intention of purchasing. The properties were in general in very good condition, better as the norm. BUT UNITED GOLF WAS A DESERT. If one wishes to live in the wilderness, then well and good. However there is NO GOLF and the swimming pools were at that time empty. The facilities at the entry are empty and the access road is dangerous in other than dry weather.
