Hi,

Can anybidy advise on what happened duting the state of alarm regarding the French Spanish border closure? Thus is in regard to returning from your holiday home to the UK?

Its just that I am hoping to drive over in September then return to UK in October.

If another wave hits and the border is closed do they permit returns to the UK does anyone know?

I think what will happen in September & October no one knows.

To get the latest news in Spain in english please consult the N332 or Murcia Today facebook page.

The official site for Spain in spanish is www.boe.es

In the previous Lockdown, as a British resident travelling home, you were allowed to travel through France to the UK; and there were specific forms to complete and carry with you to prove your intended journey. Similarly, Spanish residents could return home, but, for example, if you didn't have residency you couldn't visit a holiday home that you owned in Spain.

Depending on the status at the time, there was limited availability of hotels, shops, etc. on the journey.

Hope this helps!

That is very helpful thanks.

In case of need, do you know where you obtained the required forms?

There is a link from this page to the French equivalent (which is in French & English). I think this is where the form was.

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france/entry-requirements

Also remember that, currently, in each direction of travel you need to have a passenger locator form completed - one for each person enetring Spain and one for each person returning to the UK. The UK form has to be completed via the gov.uk website and can only be completed within 48 hours in advance of your return entry to UK.

You have to complete the passenger locator forms each way when you're flying too. I was over for the week, last week, and it's really not a big issue...

Ok thanks.

Will weigh up nearer the time, given the increases in infections in both France and Spain this may become moot!!

Hi,

My partner and I were able to drive back from Los Alcazares through Spain and France to the Eurotunnel during the last lockdown (middle of April). We carried with us three letters in Spanish, Catalan and French explaining why we were making the journey. Plus for each of us the required documents in French to enter and travel through France.

No hotels open so except for a couple of hours sleep we drove non stop. However, we did not need documents to  enter the UK or to self isolate for 14 days at the time.
