Hi, be careful buying on a golf urbanisation, the monthly fees can be high ,if you are an avid golfer and factoring that in then fine but just be careful and ask what the fees are.

It deoends on the size of your property and what facilities it has (e.g. pool, aircon, etc.), so I think it's handy to compare costs to the UK and then you should know what your likely consumption would be.

Electricity is a little more expensive than in the UK and you are unlikely to have gas, so that will be all your energy provision. Aircon can be pricey to use, but, as with anything, it depends how much you use it. You will need some heat in the winter, this could be a wood burner, heat via air con units, electric panel radiators, etc. If you have a pool, then the pump needs to be on a program - say an extra €40 per month. If you have a heated pool then a lot more.

Water bills comparative to the UK. IBI (the equivalent of council tax) is about 20% of the UK cost. Broadband & TV similar to the UK.

Fuel for cars a bit cheaper than the UK, car tax cheaper, but cost of buying cars higher than the UK.

Food similar to the UK, but can be more expensive in the 'on resort' supermarkets compared to supermarkets in towns, etc.; alcoholic drinks a lot cheaper.

As mentioned above, the 'maintenance' fees on a golf resort can be quite high and vary by resort and property, so you should confirm first - estimate would be €100-€200 per month.

When you're buying a property, you need to allow an additional 12-13% on top of the purchase price for your costs (property purchase tax for example is 8% - compared to 1.5% for stamp duty in the UK).

Hope this helps!

Hello, whilst I agree with the above comments that are very accurate I would like to say that the associated community charges whilst seeming high actually cover quite a few things. For example we own on La Torre Golf. The community fees include your internet, buildings insurance, cleaning of community areas and gardening. On La Torre you also have gas as your main heating source. This reduces your electricity consumption. In terms of air conditioning which is one of the biggest expenses there are a few things you can do. We installed AC fans that run on hardly any electricity and found them to be great even in the hotter months. You can also upgrade your air con machines as many are old and inefficient. Council tax when compared to the UK is far cheaper.
