Hi all hope everyone is keeping safe

We are nearing semi retirement, and our plans were to have stays of 3 to 4 months at a time in our own home in Spain, with myself possibly being able to continue to work on line as this is what I am doing now due to covid .

So much information out there on line as to what’s required to enable us to do this can anyone simplify any information and can what needs to be done by ourselves or is it worth getting a professional person to deal with applications ect

And am I right in thinking we can no longer as British people apply for residency

Many thanks

"can no longer as British people apply for residency " Not true - you can apply for residency but only if you are going to be a permanent resident, with all the health insurance/proof of income/tax implications/changing to a Spanish driving licence etc. As a visitor you can spend 90 days in 180 in Spain and must then be out of the EU for 90 days and so on. This applies whether you own, or rent, or stay in hotels.

It is definitely recommended to get a professional gestor to assist you in applying for a TIE, to enable you to live in Spain full time. Best to look for one in the area or town, where you plan to move to. If you are still only planning on spending part of your time in Spain, then don't apply for residency as it can be counter-productive if you spend more time in the UK and still have to pay all your taxes in Spain. I would recommend that you join the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain's Facebook group and/or go to their website, as they have the latest information posted on their sites and this comes directly from both the Spanish and the UK governments (and not from a man in a bar)! Now that the UK has left the EU and the UK is now considered a third country, a single person will need to prove an annual income of around 25,800€ and a couple around 32,000€ to qualify for residencia in Spain, along with private health insurance.

You cannot be resident in Spain unless you spend more time here than outside Spain. Residency is not for part-timers.

I know that but some people actually do it to be able to come to Spain whenever they like!
