Hi,We have just about finished furnishing our apartment on Las Terrazas and are thinking about  getting some kind of English tv package.

Do you have to have internet in order to receive channels?

We don’t want an expensive subscription -any advice/suggestions appreciated as always.

Thanks,Tina

Hi Tina, I also have an apartment on Las Terrazas, I think you will need internet to have English TV as large dish that you require for TV isn't permitted so i'm led to believe, I have A2Z internet at 20 euros a month and I then purchased a box which gives my everything and that was 100 euros one off payment

if you get internet via A2Z you can subscribe to IPTV...we use Superior TV.  70€ a year...hundreds of channels, catch up, box sets, films etc

No, I got it separately as A2Z wanted a subscription

Apparently if you buy a smart TV you don't need a box. The decoder is built in. Depending on what TV you get it could save €60+.

If you buy a MAG 254 (best for IPTV) for €70 ish from Amazon es, if you have holiday home you can use same box in UK or Spain or anywhere really,  you can then buy IPTV subscription on ebay, just go for the 100% or very close feedback sellers and you can get a years subs for as little as £17.50...I personally buy in three or six months subs..never has but if they go t@@s up not a big loss...just renewed one at £10 for six months and works well...

Setting up a 'Smart' TV to receive some IPTV services can be problematic.

Our Samsung TV has built in apps for Amazon Prime, Netflix and a few other services built in and they work just fine. However some of the English Apps / stations (BBC, BBC iPLayer etc) will not work in Spain unless connected via a VPN to hide your service IP address.

There is a downloadable app for IPTV (a specific service) but it's a pig to set up. I haven't bothered as most of the channels are available via Compusurf's free IPTV service, which I can stream to either of our TVs with my tablet.

You can pick up compusurf on Las terrazas, I didn't realize Chris had expanded that far.
