Hi Mike,

your solicitor will have informed the Town Hall or whoever collects your council tax called IBI when you purchased your property. It is invoiced once a year, in my location which is in Valencia, not Murcia it is sent out around now to be paid by September( we have ours on direct debit) by Suma the tax offices agency, your solicitor can arrange it and should have informed and asked you on purchase. The non resident tax is differrent. This is called INR, it is an imputed tax levied on your cadastral value which is stated on your IBI invoice. It is paid yearly in arrear. You could do it yourself online if you have the confidence dealing with the spanish tax authority but we pay ours through a gestor(do not use an expensive solicitor for this tax) it needs calculating each year and we use Angar Taxation Services based in Torrevieja (Google it) at a cost of €20, per owner so not costly. They have recently changed their policy as they included in that cost paying it on your behalf however they now charge a further €20 per owner to pay on your behalf. As you visit frequently you can get them to calculate and prepare paperwork for you to take to your bank and pay over the counter saving €20 each and only costing you the €20 each for the calculation and paperwork. You could get your calculation done while in Uk all done by email, and print off ready to pay on next visit to Spain. This tax must be paid by Dec 31st for previous year. Another company called Spanish Tax Forms, recommended by many (Google them) based in UK, they charge £35 per property to calculate and charge £12 per owner if you want them to pay on your behalf. You will need an IBI invoice with your cadastral value shown for the calculation to be assessed but just the first time and gestor does it from then.

Hope this has been helpful.

Regards

Pauline

Hi Mike,

I recommend using Angar Taxation, Torrevieja to pay your IBI tax. I have found Andy to be very efficient. He can deal with you by email or whats app.  And for a charge of €20 per person I find its brilliant value for money and peace of mind!!.
