The rumours have been going for years & years.

No longer rumour but fact. Flights will be transferred to Corvera late this year or very early next, and San Javier handed back to the military.

Contract was signed yesterday with AENA so they can now get all the operating licences etc needed for them to run Murcia International.

opens January 19 

Will there be a direct bus service from the new airport to San Javier? My house is just down the road from Murcia airport. I was hoping the new airport would never open since no one wanted the contract to run it. Anyway, it does look like Murcia will finally close the door to commercial flights. Got to make alternative arrangements now. I will probably visit left often as the new airport is a bit of a trek!

Hi well it opens in December the staff do a trial run and training in November, i have no idea if there will be a bus service it is possible, but there should be more flights in and out all year round with better pricing, it is only twenty ins away for me better than it is now, where was always going to be winners and loosers.
