Hi Steve many thanks for your reply-how to take something that should be straight forward and make it complicated use Sabedell. Could you imaging, having to complete a form and then having to wait for their approval before sending a transfer, time consuming & antiquated. Fortunately you have ...

...found and use Wise, as have I now and first time I used it transferred in 18 seconds and no charges, so is a no brainer. They say Brexit, I say exploitation, as under SEPA they should not be charging, but then Sabedell at the best of times, leaves a lot to be desired!

Android,

Totally agree with the tone of your comment. We have a Bankia account which has gone from no charge to €12 euro a month and then €26 euro a year for the debit card. No great amounts going through the account, just a few declared rental income (, taxed at 24% no deductibles rather than 19% with deductibles.pre brexit,)  and the usual direct debits which to my knowledge you can only pay by direct debit.

We used moneycorp when we moved the purchase monies for the house we have and where not charged to send or receive the money.  Have a look at Bobs guides on this platform and you may find it useful or search Banking on this forum search facility. Good luck

Unfortunately the banks in Spain charging for everything.  Bankia sent me an email earlier this year saying the monthly charge would be dropped as I'm paying large enough sums in to my account,  but the issue is that the system won't recognise the reference of the transfer: first name and the surname. So I swooped - put the surname and first name in that order just to getting another email saying: it's OK now but to get charges dropped you need to increase your house insurance premium!!!!!!! I just gave up..

One of our neighbours successfully sued Bankia for overcharged interest fees, they used a lawyer and others in our community hired the same lawyer, not a cheap but highly successful one. It could be a precedent to have a money 💰back for such charges I think.

I had this with La Caixa. On advice from Currencies Direct I queried it with the bank and haven't been charged since and had the charges refunded.

Good luck.
