Yesterday had a discussion with Murcia Salud about the upcoming Spanish Covid-19 vaccination program. It is the intention of the Spanish Health Department to firstly vaccinate patients and staff in aged persons facilities, then all the doctors and nurses through the whole health system. After that the over 65's who are registered with the various provincial heath departments, such as Murcia Salud will be phoned and told where to be and when for vaccination. Then they will work down through the age range.

I am an autonomo, making social security payments, I have a CARM registration and a Spanish health card,(Tarjeta Sanitaria)  so I will be in that group.

Out of curiosity, I asked what about the Ingles who are not the Padron?  The response was a shrug

I can understand that the Spanish will not be keen to allocate early vaccination slots to people who are not registered even with their local council ahead of their own citizens, but has anyone information on the vaccination program for extranerjos  who do not have Spanish health cards?

I am with the "shrug" attitude. If a resident they should be on the padron and in the health system so will be qualified and get the jabs. If not resident why are they here and why should they get vaccination here rather than in their own country of residence?

Peter,

I agree.

If not on Padron, the Spanish Government must assume foreigners are just on holidays.

But if on Padron and privately insured, then maybe Spanish insurers might want them vaccinated?

Worth remembering that there are many Brits here, on the padron, with Residencia, and paying income tax to Spain ... but who are too young to have S1-funded Spanish NHS, and who rely, instead, on private healthcare.

My wife and I fit this category.

We will probably end up paying for our vaccinations (and I have no objection to that, nor to waiting our turn), but it will be interesting to see how the public/private systems mesh together.

Can you explain the 'too young' prevention on Spanish social security, if you are paying Spanish income tax?

If you are retired, S1-funded healthcare only kicks in at the UK pension age. We're not there yet. We have Spanish Residencia based on PHI. We do not have access to the Spanish NHS, nor are we registered for Spanish NHS.

Interesting to know vaccinations will be rolled out. I also understand that Brits with padron and residencia will be on the list. However, what about the Brits with S1 who have the Padron but are waiting for their residencia to go through? They cannot access health care at all, unless they have private insurance, and because of existing health conditions probably can't get it. So, unless they can pay for the vaccination, they have no chance of getting it. Catch 22 probably.

No.

We do not do any paid work. We retired early (benefiting from company pensions).
