Autonomos in Spain are self-employed people, typically freelancers or contractors who run unincorporated small businesses.
They may be Spanish born or British, Irish etc. passport holders who have Residencia etc. are working as computer programmers, plumbers, electricians, writers etc.
The Spanish authorities require the two million or so, in the country, to register and pay taxes as well as charge IVA to their Spanish customers.
As they are required to make social security payments, the extranjeros (foreigners) amongst that number and their families have the same health coverage as Spanish citizens.
The relevance in this situation is that the provincial health bodies like MurciaSalud will be vaccinating them as they would Spanish born citizens.
It would seem that those extranjeros who have Residencia but have private Spanish health insurance should be asking their insurers what the vaccination program for them is. It will after all be very much in the insurance companies interests if their clients have 95% less change of getting this oft deadly virus.
I note the suggestion that extranjeros who have Residencia & therefore Padron will be vaccinated. Wondering where they fit in the priority program and who is going to contact them and how?
It will certainly be interesting to hear the answers.
Meanwhile extranjeros living in Spain who are not even Padron registered will need to figure out how they are going to get vaccinated in their home countries.
Again, interesting to hear of experiences.
