Hi, we're coming over on holiday in May for 15 days and looking for a recommendation for a car hire company- we're flying into Alicante.

Thanks,

Margaret & Kenny

Centauro, we wouldn't use anyone else. No queueing, inexpensive, although you have left it a little late, and no problems with the cars on return. From the posts on here, don't even consider Goldcar.

Hi, i’d give Flemanca cars a try - highly recommend https://flamencacars.com/ they’ll meet you at the airport so no need to go to a check in desk ( everything booked and arranged / confirmed via the internet ). You may struggle with availability though ( as Jillybea mentioned, might be a little late availability wise )

Hi Kenny,

we have used both Centauro & Flamenca and both good. Flamenca have fewer cars so booking might be an issue?

Flamenca will meet and greet at the airport. Both companies good, but avoid Goldcar! As a third option we have also used RecordGo, bit of a wait at the airport to get a car but after that collection and return were easy.

Enjoy your trip

Bob

Hi Margaret / Kenny - I've read lots of posts warning against Goldcar - I must be the only person who has used them for years with no issues at all!

I'm in Los Alcazares now and hired a brand new Berlingo for 52 euros for 8 days. Full to full terms as well. I've always taken out an excess insurance policy (costs 40 euros a year) to guard against any claims but so far in 8 years all.has been well. As with any hire car company, make sure you check the car before driving away and point out any issues not already noted and takes pictures to be sure.

Cheers Steve

I’ve used most of the airport car hire firms over many years with zero problems, even with the net-despised Goldcar.   Prices have always been cheap, from absurdly cheap to plain cheap, with one hire priced at €8 for 3 days.   It was with some wariness, I took that €8 hire car back but zero problems resulted.

I did take one car back that had been washed several hundred yards down a flooded road, only prevented from going out to sea (with others) by jamming against a lamp post.   I had to remove a lot of weeds, just to get it mobile again.   The hire company, on being told, asked “is it drivable ?” and on my saying it was, were entirely happy and imposed no extra charges.

However, as I could not understand all this as a business model, I mostly gave up and tend to travel by bus and train.   Coincidentally I am hiring next week, with Flamenca cars, as they appear to charge an understable amount and have not given any concerns in the past.   Less exciting of course !

Has the Corvera car hire situation improved any? Last time I used them (Interent in March) the hire itself was only 8 euros for 3 days but the queues were horrendous so I chose to pay another 30 euros to jump the queue!

Use Centauro, there are no queues.
