At Spanish border control, visitors may need to:

  · show a return or onward ticket

  · show you have enough money for your stay

  · show proof of accommodation for example, a hotel booking confirmation,                                                                                                                                                                     proof of address if visiting your own property (e.g. second home),                                                                                                                                                                               or   an invitation from your host or proof of their address if staying with friends or family.  

The Spanish Government has clarified that the “carta de invitation” is one of the options available to                                                                                                                               prove that you have accommodation if staying with friends or family.

  · use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens when queueing

  · your passport will be stamped on entry and exit

...it brings, would get used to visiting every 90 days, and have family,friends visit them. If it them meant having to go through the rigmarole of many forms, and also costing them,their attitude would change. Just my personal view.

Yes, good point. But I think the fact that non residents can't actually have a Carte de Invitación is good news - one less piece of paper and saves costs too!

But there are no doubt plenty of property owners who are non residents, and Brexit has made it much harder for them to become residents who would not be happy at all .

They should direct their unhappiness towards the British politicians who did not explain, the difficulty that non-Eu citizens have had obtaining any Eu residency for more than a decade and the 90 day rule. when they promoted Brexit
