Look you cannot change Brexit so get used to it. You left your country of birth for supposedly "better climes " great - so embrace it and leave the UK to run its own business. Why should it bother you? you don't live there any more, you spend your earned money in your new country (as you should) ...

...so whatever happens in the UK should be of no consequence. Prices in Spain were going up long before Brexit, Spain has always taken "backhanders" and the Brits moving over was another great excuse to gain more revenue.

I agree. Brexit was done for those who voted and live and work in the UK, so let's all get on with it! Useful info (facts only) on post Brexit would be welcomed by the many non resident property owners in Spain but the residents of Spain need to accept the new rules whatever they are, and enjoy the country they adopted.

I'm just waiting to get over there and enjoy some of my 90 days as soon as I can.

Love the positive attitude.

Life; countries the entire world revolves and changes repeatedly.  It always will. And we all have to accept; adapt and live our best and happiest lives within the current circumstances.   We intend to with a big smile on our faces.

Hope you get over soon and begin to enjoy your home-from-home long holidays.

Wonderful positive comments, haven't heard the like for so long. Please all accept what is, move on, be kind and live in the wonderful sun. I haven't been to my property for almost 10months and my Titanium hip I am sure has rusted and is in need of sunshine.

Yes I agree these factors were not pointed out during the run up to the vote and I too think thousands did not realise the implications of leavi

Hooray this has to end the vote for and against was lost but on this forum nearly on a weekly basis a new thread with brexit as the problem we have lived here for 20 years  and have noticed little difference to our lives our banking has not risen, it is only because people want to keep the old system of using a spanish bank to pay bills and a uk bank to bank which the EU decided was not fair on spanish banks. We pay our pensions into our spanish bank and we pay no charges, it’s a matter of conform to our home country we will carry on with trying to make the best of our life here using the rules and regulations to our best advantage

Surely now Brexit is finished and good luck to uk but we live here in Spain

Whilst those of us who've moved to Spain, still hold British passports, have families, and friends and maybe still have properties, businesses and/or investments in the UK, we have every right to concern ourselves about what goes on in our names in the UK! Just because someone chooses to live temporarily or even permanently in another country, they are still citizens of their country of origin and have every right to return there whenever they choose to. And now that the old 15 year limit on voting rights is likely to be on its last legs, be ready for all the people who have become disenfranchised by the Brexit voters, to take back their own sovereignty during the next election!

Never thought my posting to help inform expats and visitors about helpful facts re Carta de Invitation (to refute postings just based on 'rumour') would turn into a post Brexit political debate!

I like your innocent naivety re the important impact future expat voting will have on UK political policies.  You will vote Conservative or Labour and that party will break or fail to deliver the majority of it's election manifesto promises.  Blaming the previous Gov's legislation for it's failure to do so.  Then happily do whatever it likes!

Brexit stirred many non-voting, non-caring ex-pats to get off their shanks and vote.  The majority with only their own lifestyle in mind - not the good of the UK country and people.  Normally around 35,000 expats actually bother to vote.  But that includes all other countries around the world too.   The Brexit vote saw this increase to around 235,000!    (See link to UK Gov library records below)  Now Brexit is over I think the number who will vote will reduce once again to around 70-100k.  A good percentage of which will vote with revenge and spite in mind and sod to the impact that might have on the UK economy and the UK peoples welfare!

Personally, as residents of Spain, we will not be voting in any UK elections.  But will always wish our home country and all it's people every possible success as an independent, democractic and sovereign nation.

Hi DMoss,

Hurrah.  Sane, sensible posting.

Lets live in the here and now and end this totally fruitless merri-go-round of Brexit debates.

Surely we're not expected to show our bank accounts as proof of sufficient funds for the trip so I presume we have to have the cash with us - am I right?
