Our EHIC cards have run out  :-O

We urgently need to get private medical insurance.

We're waiting for our residencias (taking longer than thought - no surprise there!) as we've been told we cannot registered with our local doctor, even tho we have our S1s, until we do have residence.

Can anyone recommend a company for Health Insurance please.    We want to apply immediately.

Only time in 40yrs we didn't have house insurance (confusion of moving) we got burgled!!!  So I am panicking.

Thanks.

We use DKV. My wife has been very ill and they have looked after us very well.

https://dkvseguros.com/seguros-medicos-particulares/seguros-cuadro-medico/dkv-integral?perso=swat&ori=branding&utm_campaign={DKV_002%20UND%20CA_brandund_marcacontrolexactswat2020_39743_2020-06-01_2020-12-31_SEM_PERF__}&gclid=CjwKCAiAtK79BRAIEiwA4OskBs8UZYiZtEY4jxcLUx8LRrgDhWgWM2twU0_vJ1IJUxWXxB1vly3fRhoCkjcQAvD_BwE

The website works in English.

You need to tell them you want to gain Residency, as this determines the product you need (you cannot gain Residency with a copay product).

The costs are on a par with other providers.

Just checked out their site.  Only concern is the access to only 8 medical/surgical centres/hospitals and none of them are local.  They mention Barcelona; Madrid, Navvar etc.   We have no plans to fall ill, obviously, but with this cover it looks like you'd end up 100s of kilometers away from home.   Do you know if they do cover over hospitals nearer our area?

My wife has been treated (oncology, chemotherapy and surgery) at the Quiron Hospital in Murcia City

She had radiotherapy at Genisis Healthcare in Murcia City

She has had tests in San Pedro (blood test), Torrevieja (Quiron and IMED, scans, blood tests, nuclear medicine scans), Murcia City (many tests at various clinics, and nuclear medicine scans at Hospital La Vega), and Elche (IMED Hospital, biopsy).

So treatment isn't far away from you in LA.

But you should speak to DKV (or anyone else you are considering) and ask them if the private GPs near your home are affiliated. This is probably the most important point, as (if you use Private Health Insurance), your private GP is the entry point to the system.

Hope this helps.

PM me if you meed anything more.

Edit ... I have also taken my wife to the Casualty Dept at the Murcia Quiron twice. On each occasion she was seen/patched up within 20 minutes.

I think (I'm not sure) that if needed, you can call an ambulance, turn up at any Casualty Dept (in normal circumstances - Covid excepted), get patched up, and present your DKV card to handle the bill. But I'm in no hurry to test that ...

Can I also add that I sincerely hope that you're wife is making a full recovery.

And gets into remission quickly.

My very best wishes to both of you.

You can renew your EHIC cards till your residencia is registered just done it as been told will be next year before formalities completed. Obviously you need a UK address and someone to forward cards to you

We already have our S! NHS Certs.   So we've already been registered in UK as non-residents.

So is not poss for us to renew!   Unless you know different?
