At best it would be eating on terrace, well separated tables etc - being in one of those plastic bags for smokers will not be for us...Chinese takeaway maybe?

As far as I know, the "Flavour" restaurant, just off the square still has some tables left for Christmas day and New Year's Eve. Set menus with a choice of dishes. They hope to have tables both inside and outside on the terrace but it all depends on the decision tomorrow. The outside terrace is covered and heated though!

Can I just plead that people going to gatherings like these maintain safe distancing and wear masks as much as they can - for the sake of those of us vulnerable to this evil pandemic. There are reasons why Los Alcazares remains one of the 2 municipalities in the whole of Spain with restrictions imposed on movement in or out of the city - field workers ignoring the rules as they need to work to live, and non-working foreign residents selfishly ignoring the rules for their own pleasure.

Be assured the tipsy thistle are excellent at following all guidelines including social distancing, hand sanitising and the wearing of masks. They have limited tables and booking was recommended. Going here for the afternoon will be as safe as going to any restaurant to have something to eat. These restaurants are relying on us all to support them through this horrific time they have experienced while always adhering to the rules

Just because the restaurant mentioned tries to do the job properly does not mean that all do, or that all the clients will behave as they should. I have seen some horrendous behaviour with far too many people, too close together, not a mask in sight, all blindly trusting that the person next to them is not infected. I totally understand the desire of owners wanting - needing - to get some income, but it is very difficult for them to turn policeman if a regular or high-spending customer will not follow the guidelines.

It will be a happier new year if we all work together to make our local infection rate drastically reduce, saving lives and inproving the lives of all Los Alcazares residents.

I guess we all have our own opinions on the matter. Let’s hope we can look forward to a more positive new year

I totally agree with you PeterC! Or better still, just buy a nice bit of steak or something that you like to eat and just STAY AT HOME! New Year's Eve isn't real, it's just a random moment in time that is different all around the world. You don't need to risk your health and that of other people just to eat a nice meal and have a few drinks. Enjoy it if you do celebrate it but enjoy it responsibly - and live another day!
