We are currently processing our papers for a Non lucrative Visa.

- Our house in France is currently under offer and we are desperate to move to Camposol.

-The Spanish embassy in Paris suggested that we use , the Consulate in Perpignan as a contact.

- Does anyone know of a Company that will check our papers before we take them to the Consulate?

- Am I right in thinking that if the papers are wrong the Consulate will take our money and we will have to start again and pay again !!!!y

We have just successfully completed the first stage of the NLV process (from the UK) and we have used BeGlobal Attorneys, based in Barcelona. I would expect that they would advise you, for a fee.

I believe, but you should confirm, that if there is a small error then you have 10 days to correct and re-submit, otherwise, yes, you forfeitthe payment and have to start again. Worth taking some professional advice...

Hope this helps!

What did you have to show?

Medical insurance I’m presuming and did you show the £30k in an English bank or Spanish bank?

How long to get this process done you reckon?

Thanks

This is the list of requirements, as per the consulate website:

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR A NON LUCRATIVE RESIDENCY

1 Passport or travel document valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended arrival to Spain with at least two blank pages to affix the visa.

2 One completely filled and signed National Visa Application Form.

3 Ex-01 form and 079-052 fee form to be paid at the Consulate on the day of your appointment

4 One recent passport colour photograph. (No more than six months old)

5 For non-British citizens: A UK residence permit valid for at least 3 months. It can be either in form of Visa stamped on the applicant’s passport or a Residency Card.

6 Medical (Health ) Certificate signed and stamped by a registered doctor. This Certificate must literally state that the Applicant does not suffer of any illness which represents a risk or a danger for the public according to the International Health Regulations of 2005. The document must be translated by a Sworn Translator only, and with the Hague Apostille if the country is a member. Otherwise the document must be verified by the Spanish authorities in the country of issuance.

7 Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the country or countries where the applicant has resided in the past five years. The document must be translated by a Sworn Translator only, and with the Hague Apostille if the country is a member. Otherwise the document must be verified by the Spanish authorities in the country of issuance.

8 Full health cover for applicant and, if applicable, family member.

9 Means of maintenance in Spain in form of 2200 € per month (Approx £1750 at the time of printing) for the main applicant. Each additional family member will need € 550 per month (£ 440 at the time of printing)

10 All documents must be translated into Spanish

We used a Spanish solicitor (BeGlobal Attorneys) to assist in preparing all the paperwork, making the appointments, etc. but there is still quite a bit of work you need to do yourselves.

We provided evidence of cash in bank, shares, premium bonds, rental income from a property we own and rent out, and my pension pot.

In total, the process has taken us about 12 weeks and cost around £2,300 (of which the solicitor's fees were approx. £1,000).

When we get to Spain, we then need to attend the Foreigners' Office at a specific Police Station to have fingerprints taken; be added to the padron at the town hall - then we will get our TIE.

This NLV lasts for a year, then you have to renew for 2 years, then a further two years, then you can get permanent residency. Although I understand the renewal process is less onerous than the initial application!

hi, regarding medical insurance. i understand that you have to have a years private insurance to apply for the NLV.

Can anyone confirm if you have to have it for the renewal of the NLV or can you apply and use the form S1  from the uk or do you have to wait 5 years and become a full resident before your allowed to use S1.

ITS ALL SO CONFUSING

kind regards to all, john
