Hi All

Can anybody please advise me on Iberdrola's charges.

My latest bi monthly bill was for March and April and the charge was 186 euros. We were only in the house for 1 week during that period and didn't use the aircon heating or the electric boiler to heat the water.

We have a 5.75 KW supply and the only thing that is left on all year round is the fridge freezer as we use the house for approximately 8 to 10 weeks of the year.

48% of all bills are made up of taxes/charges but on average my bills are around 100 euros a time so that's about 600 euros a year. That seems expensive to me for only 8 weeks use.

Any information or advise as to what i could do would be appreciated.

Abe

Hi Annabelle

Thanks for the reply. Are you with Iberdrola too or another supplier?

They investigated the bill and eventually refunded me 70 euros but the explanation they gave didn't make any sense at all so i made a formal complaint and i am awaiting a full explanation.

They say that the distribution company have changed something on the meter side and the readings have been corrected hence the refund. I told them that if something had to be changed then that would suggest that all the previous readings were also incorrect.

My bills have been expensive for years but trying to get any sense from Iberdrola is very frustrating indeed.

I will let you know how i get on?

Thanks again. Abe

Your billing depends on your contracted power supply to start with.

Have you looked at your bill & checked the actual meter reading??

Have you really not used any electric at all.

Could a neighbour be using your electric ?

Are you on a 3.3KW supply or a 5kw supply there is a big difference from the start.

My supply is a 3.3KW supply & my monthly standing charge is 13.92 euro approx.

Remember IVA ( VAT) is charged at 21 % in Spain not 5% as the UK.

If you are with Iberdrola sign up for their online billing so that you can see whats going on at a glance.

Their website is in English

We are with Ibadrola and the daily standing charge for 3.3Kw supply is 0.137326 Euro/day. We find the 3.3 is adequate unless there are more than 3 or 4 things being used at the same time. (2-bed bungalow).

I would be interested to know what the daily charge is for your 5+Kw supply.

After some 15 years of putting up with our electric tripping out especially during the winter months when we used electric heating I looked at upgrading to a 5kw supply.

About 12 months ago the cost of the standing charge was about double a 3.3kw suppy if I remember.

Put a pellet stove in instead...........
