Are there any areas near Los Alcazares where properties don't get affected by flooding when it occurs?

I absolutely love the look of the beach area and the town restaurants but my wife is worried after seeing videos of the floods. We haven't visited yet but we would be interested in a holiday bolt-hole in the next year or two and plan on a visit to the area before then.

What is it like for accommodation? (We won't have a massive budget)

Transport links?

etc.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately, I can't really tell which areas get flooded from this link. I don't speak Spanish yet so that might be the reason I don't understand it.

In the last couple of years, the authorities of Los Alcazares have done lots of improvement to get on top of the flooding zones.

I looked up the link of the map (click on OK on the 1st pop up, then “aceptar” on the 2nd) and zoomed (double click on the map) into Los Alcazeres. It looks like they have it under control.

If I would like to buy something I would avoid the old town of LA. Los Narenjos is good (ca. 3 KM north of LA old town) or look south El Carmoli, Punta Brava, Los Urrutias towards La Manga.

I am not sure about Las Lomas del Rame & Bahia Bella they were badly hit.

You can see Rambla del Albujon that is a “dead” riverbed and get flooded as soon we have a bit of rain. But they have also improved the banks of it. South of it is a big unused area for the floods if it come to the worse.

I assume if you come you will have a car and have time to drive around. I have no idea about public transport: there is in the summer a “tourist train” around LA. I hope someone else can give you more info.

I live in Los Urrutias and love it here. But I need a car to get around (day to day essentials shopping)
