Has anyone found a way to buy a decent laptop here in Spain with an English keyboard and Windows10 that can be fully changed to English?

Cannot import one any more due to fiendish Brexit import taxes & duty.

Or perhaps not...is the answer! I have even looked on amazon.de site as they are within europe, but all theirs are German keyboard, even more confusing than Spanish.

The websites of Dell and HP make it impossible to communicate with a human.

When I bought my current one I dealt direct with Dell in Mellia, and they supplied one to UK spec no problem, but my contacts have moved on it seems.

Have a look at this link.

I can't see any date on the website but if they are still on the go might be worth an email.

Good try Roland but that site says "New laptops are primarily supplied with a Spanish keyboard,"

There is no way to update a 10+ year old laptop, with the keys so worn you cannot tell the i from the o. It has only cost me 65 Euros a year so another one would probably see me out!

I curse myself for not buying one on our last trip to the UK, when there would have been no problems and no duty.

Even the usually good El Corte Ingles do not respond to my questions about supplying what I want.

I was hoping for someone's experience of getting one.

Sounds as though you are due a new laptop if the keys are worn away !!

It might be worth dropping them an email to see if they can supply one with an English keyboard, you never know.

The websites of both Dell (preferred make) and HP are the most impenetrable I have ever experienced (apart from the early DGT versions).

Just buy a Spanish laptop and change system  language to English. All letter keys will be in the same place, main difference will be the @ key, shift 2 for that on my keyboard, same as on macbooks. Different makes of machine/keyboard often have the other keys in different locations so a bit of familiarisation is usually to be expected. Whilst at it, do you need windows? I've been playing round with a chromebook build on a spare machine and finding it very good for day to day use, great battery life and added bonus of not padding out Microsoft's bank account.

Have you thought about changing the keyboard?

My Dell Studio 1737 Laptop is 15 years old and still going strong, I had a couple of problems so did a self diagnosis on the machine and had to replace the mother board, bought one on line and found a tutorial on how to change this all ok.

While doing this I also changed my keyboard, because as you say the tend to wear out with a lot of use.

If you are not confident enough to have a go yourself there is an excellent computer/ phone supply and repair shop in San Javier, sorry cant remember their name but is on the road going from the repsol rounderbout to the motorway.
