Hi,

Having been here 10 months now, we’re coming up to our first renewal.

Whilst I understood the initial process (there were plenty of guides and helpful Posts), I’m really not sure of the second year process.

I’ve been given the name of a company that would help - they’ve quoted me €425 per person, which sounds a bit pricey, but I’m far from comfortable in tackling it on my own.

Anyone have any advice of how they did it?

Thanks

Hi I agree with chicojohn to my understanding a TIE is for 5years unless you have been a resident for a number of years, for example my TIE is 10years are you sure it is your TIe?

Please contact me by pm and I may be able to point you in the right direction.

The NLV has to be renewed after 1 and 3 years.  Unfortunately those going through the renewal process now are among the first Brits to do so so there won't be much experience on this forum.

Personally, as it is something that you simply can't afford to get wrong, I would swallow the costs of having a firm who (hopefully) know what they are doing and fully understand the process provide assistance with this first renewal. Hopefully you can then follow their process and do it yourself at the next renewal.

I'm sure that others on these boards would welcome any information on the process that you can provide after you've been through it yourself.

Good luck!

Kate.

Hi Frank I know of a lady she charges 350 for a couple.

I have been trying to do mine myself but its proving a tad difficult all i need is the details of the immigration office to make an appointment.

I do have the digital signature but the system keeps crashing and i have to start over and over and over I am in Murcia region.

Has anyone any experience of NLV renewal recently. I employed a Company to do this on my behalf last June as my TIE expired 27th Sept.  Assured that they know everything and as I had a digital certificate, I assumed all was OK.  They took me to Murcia in September and was transferred from one desk to another (fingerprint).  On examining my paperwork, we were informed that under the "new rules" we could not apply until the old one had expired.  This makes no sense to me!!  After telling this Company multiple times about all the paperwork needed, shouting and throw a wobblie, they have managed to get the application in on 1st Dec. This has now been accepted and the new NLV granted. Meanwhile, I have spent Christmas and New Year with friends in Berlin and been relegated to schengen rules and have been told I have to get back to Spain urgently to collect my card or lose it.  I am convinced that the Company I used is totally useless but need o know if anyone else has come across these "New Rules.

Hi it would be good If you named the company so other people can be careful who they use.

Hi .  No problem.  The Company is called Costa Patrick and is run by a German called Manfred  (Siegfred M Steffen)  and is at Calle Neptuno 506, bajo, Los Alcazares.

They seem to be able to do anything but as I discovered- very badly.  They did my Tax return and hopefully I can get it corrected this year.  They left me without Car Insurance for a month and I had to sort it myself.  Replaced a drain pipe from my "Solarium" which after 2 attempts still lets water pour from the roof.  And i thought I had found someone to trust!! Lessons learned for the future.

Hi Vic

It is a shame you had these problems it sounds as they are experts in everything but nothing.

Did you check if they are Legal ask for their documentation to prove this .

I would also ask them for a complaints form, which every legal company must have. I did this with some plumbers that said they were registered for gas installations, when the job was finished I asked for the certificate to prove that the work had been carried out to necessary specifications they said this was not needed, knowing the regulations on this I said it was they disagreed and left, as I had paid for the work I obtained a complaints sheet completed it and took to their registered address (which was their house) for them to sign I was informed if they refused to sign I should call the police as by law they must sign the completed document.

After much discussion they refused to sign or refund 480 euros I had paid. I then said ok I will call the police, they then shut the door, unperturbed by this I stood there and called the police, 5 minutes later the mother came out of the house and asked the problem, it was politely explained she understood completely spoke to her sons,  and after much disagreement between them the sons went inside and got the cash to give me a complete refund. Police cancelled.

I suppose the moral of this story is although the company was registered and legal do not let them get away with shoddy or unprofessional work. If they are not legal and you are not happy just tell them you will go to the hacienda and register a complaint against them.

This may not be of help in your current situation but do not be ripped off by any person saying they can do this or that and then failing misarably.
