Super helpful member
As the UK refused to join the shengen area (where people fly all the time with their small pets) the only way is to use one of the specialist firms, on restricted routes, with the pooch travelling in the hold, to be collected from the cargo unit. I very much doubt that anyone operates this to MJV (though Alicante is a possibility) so think it would be far happier in a kennels in the UK. There are overland transport firms that take animals, but you would need pet passport etc and it takes a few days.
We brought a cat from Leeds when we moved to Malaga, but I had to fly out first, the cat coming next day and as they could not guarantee that he would travel on the appointed day my OH had to delay her flight a further day. All very traumatic and expensive. He did reward us by living a further 12 years, only dying just before we moved up to Murcia.

If you’re happy with your dog being in the cargo hold of a plane & then being on the conveyor belt with all the luggage then go for it. I moved out here to live & had myself & my dog driven over. Lots of companies transport dogs over land without you accompanying them.

Hi,I have been a registered dog breeder with the British(& later,Spanish)Kennel Club.Part of my business involved transport of pets worldwide.Have sent dogs, cats & birds to various countries. There is absolutely no harm in sending your little dog by air. They are in proper crates in an animal designated hold which is properly serviced for them.My own pets have travelled this way, including a pair of valuable Amazon parrots that I bred.African Grey parrots are very particular birds & mine also was transported this way without suffering at all.Otherwise she would have ripped out her plumage in anger believe me!On occasions I have refused a customer as some people will insist that their pet must only use a quite unsuitable carrying crate.By air, there are very strict regulations regarding that & also the documentation has to be correct at point of departure to enter the desired destination. It is no good getting to a disembarkation port, having travelled hours by road, only to find some small detail has been missed. And,of course, you will be reunited within a much smaller time.My own pets were Cavalier King Charles & German Shepherds & some of them have had more than a couple of plane rides from UK to Spain & back again.Hope this helps you to make a decision Lynne.
