Hi

We are non resident with Bankia account. Hello, can anyone tell me what the charges are to transfer money from my uk bank to my Spanish bank. Is it a set charge no matter what the amount or a percentage. I need to transfer quite a significant amount to pay for something in Spain. Recommendedations for cheapest option?

Use Wise.com

Very good exchange rate & your money moves in seconds.

You can see what rate you get & the charge before you actually do the transaction.

Highly recommended.

I am in the same position and transfer money each month for mortgage and bills. I was using currenciesdirect but now use Revolut. I have just checked and for £550 would get €624.86 with currencies direct(exchange rate 1.1360) and €644.01 with revolut(exchange rate1.1720)

I was a bit skeptical about Revolut originally so used a few small amounts in case anything went wrong but it was easy to set up and the money transfers into my Bankia account within minutes.

Now all I have to do is try and find a better bank account in Spain as Bankia are now charging about €14 euros a month. There are other posts on here about cheaper or free accounts. Bankia are in the process of a merger at present so will probably wait to see if this is beneficial or not

Hi, thankyou. Thinking the same myself about changing bank but slso thought best to wait till after merger, also difficult when we can't get there in person. As we need to transfer the money to pay someone, I'm thinking might be better to pay them direct using one of these transfer companies rather than to bankia, then to them.
