Hi Angela
I use Wise to transfer when rate is good to Cajamar account. Yes you send your £,s from Uk bank to Wise account and they send on to Cajamar account. You have to go in branch to open, I believe they give you an ID no to enable you to apply online for the wefferrent account. This is a new process others have told me about which we didn't go through, luckily the branch gestor opened it to use straightaway for us, even helping us to download on our phones, but now changed. Also as we were depositing our balance from Sabadell of over €2k we weren't asked for a joining deposit as it seems to be happening now. I,ve read they may ask approx €1k to be put into a special account but it's your money, no question of losing. Cajamar is a people's bank(bit like a credit union but with all services of an international bank). You become a member of the bank. Don't let this put you off as I, ve read some people have moved that deposit into their wefferrent account later and used it OK. As to transfer service (switch isn't a Spanish process) we took all our dad's references which although they said they, d contact the companies but may miss the next month, because we had closed Sabadell that day I contacted all companies myself. I used Google translate which was brilliant and all companies confirmed receipt and not 1 payment was missed. Make sure you ask for transfer service too as its not standard on basic account. Once you have the app on your phone on left side top is a menu and in that menu is a place to change language to English, then it's as easy to use as any banks app. Although I have read of a couple of people having their UK mobiles attached majority say they were told must have Spanish number. We have a "hits mobile" sim in a dual sim phone as they send notifications or codes if you are transferring money out(no difference to some UK banks). I have already written a detailed post "Free Spanish banking for non residents" please find it on this forum under banking location anywhere.
Regards
Pauline
