I have just logged into my Wefferent account on a PC a couple of minutes ago.
An access code was sent by text to my UK mobile number.

This a confirmation that you do not need to have a Spanish phone number in order to have a debit card.
I don't know why I been told otherwise.
I have a free online bank account with cajamar and attached my UK phone number and when tested, was ok, but I do not have a debit card because they said I need a Spanish phone number.
I am going to call the branch I am with and try to solve the problem.
