It's obviously sound business practice for the airlines whoever they are to hang onto their money as long as possible.

Yes I booked with OPODO..( never ever again)  and my husband was flying with Yuelling..same old story..offered re booking!!@ REFUND  OPODO made a mistake. Put my name ..Mr Mary..instead of Mr W...When I contacted them they or Yuelling ..ie the airline charged €110 to change their mistake...that was on top of the flight fare .I have waited 10 days and still no word or response to email from OPODO or Airline..it is a disgrace. It was my husband's birthday surprise. OTHERWISE I would have let it be. So he neither got his trip and I'm out of €500...

They told me they had no record of my booking! I sent them a copy of the confirmation I received at the time, to which they have not replied. Not  sure where I go from here. Ombudsman, maybe?

Surely you must have travel insurance to claim off?

You could then show the difference from what you paid for the flight and what you were refunded.

I have done this in the past.

Of course I have but they said as Easyjet cancelled the booking it was their responsibility and, as I said, they deny knowledge of the booking and didn't reply when I sent them evidence of it.

Also, apparently trip insurance is designed for “unforeseen events.” An expert says the coronavirus isn’t!!!!

Is it not worth a try?

You have proof of your booking, so I would give it a go

I've been trying with Easyjet since late May so before they were under all the pressure they're under now. As to the insurance company, they say because I had to decline the Easyjet dates offer, it wasn't Covid-19 specific. If it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have been in this position, so of course it's Covid-19 specific.

At least I'm home and healthy which is more than thousands of other people can say.
