I personally use the Cajamar Wefferent on line account, with debit card no bank charges or fees.
https://www.cajamar.es/en/comun/acceder-a-banca-electronica/
I transfer money from my English banks via Wise directly into this account.
As I never have any need to go into a bank with internet banking I would not know if they speak good English or not.
In my 20 plus years in Spain I have been with many banks and most now charge exorbitant fees.
Hope this helps

I fully agree with eduardo and a very happy customer with Cajamar.
If you need the helpline: they speak English!!! But also my local branch they speak English if you have a “problem” to talk direct to a person.
Overall, on-line and at the branch very friendly and helpful.
We closed our Sabadell Bank due to extortionate chargers open a Wise account they can accept Sepa Direct Debits then you can just top up Wise account to cover Utility Bill's no bank chargers.

A question with using Wise for money transfers - they are not actually a bank with all the guarrantees regarding any loss of money are they?
Correct me if I'm wrong. I know a lot of people use it.
You are correct regarding Wise not being a bank.
Have a read here though.

It does not really bother me that my funds with them are not as protected as a bank.
I only keep maybe 2000 or 3000 euro with them at any one time.

Oh dear. Roland . - 2/3000 Euro would be a lot to me. I have two pensions to live on. I keep one in Nationwide UK, and transfer the other into Santander for household expenses. It comes in Euros already. I don't do internet banking because of security issues in Spain; and I'm afraid of robbing myself while moving currencies, so I guess it wouldn't suit me at all . Santander do like to charge for everything they do or don't do for you though.

I actually don't think anyone said Wise was a bank?
But individuals have including myself have recommend banks and suggest that transferring funds into the account through Wise because they offer an excellent service and exchange rates.

BUT - Eduardo, - what would happen if your money was "mislaid" during transfer is what I'm really asking. How would it be sorted out with no loss to you ?
