Hi, I'm moving to Los Narejos when the flights and restrictions are lifted(probably June)I will be looking for an unlimited broadband provider, don't need a landline phone. Can anyone recommend a reliable provider, preferably one which will allow use of a media box or firestick which I currently use in UK through router settings.

Los Alcazares is currently alive with technicians installing fibre cable broadband, so you can take your choice. All are around €25/month, many have cheaper introductory offers. You will get more than enough megs to run everything you could ever need.

Nick,

You wouldn't have some provider recommendations? We hope to get back out in late July or August. We've had a contract with Avatel and its been Wimax (on Calle Rio Nora). I've found them useless to be honest and full of promises that fibre was on its way for the past two years - so I've lost faith in them unless they have significantly improved. I'd like to ensure reliable broadband if possible fibre as I will be working remotely from there for 4 - 5 months

Any help appreciated!

Denis

Your first step is easy - dump Avatel as soon as you can. They have been useless and dishonest in their promises for 4 years before we had an alternative. Telecable have proved excellent since we had their fibre installed, but there are as many companies as fleas on a Spanish street dog.

Hi,

I’m in Los Lacazares and have been using Avatel for the past 18 months. I get 600 mbps unlimited and it has always been stable. I run iptv and Netflix without any problems. Their customer service phone line has an option to request an English speaking adviser, and they have a shop near the 525 hotel which you can always go in if needed. Hope this helps.

Regards

Andrew

Andrew,

I guess my biggest disappointment with Avatel was the repeated promises that Fibre would be on our road. We were literally promised by the developer that it would be in place when we moved into the apartment three years ago, then the following July for definite by Avatel, then September for sure, then the following January etc etc.. I lost faith in them and when I rang them last week to ask if it was on Calle Rio Nora I was again told no. So Im not sure

Hi,

I use to work for Virginmedia in the UK, and they could be the same. They would tell people that fibre was going to be installed soon, but some people were still waiting 18 months later. Once you let customers down, it’s very difficult to win their trust back. So if you know one of your neighbours has a stable connection, best to try that company, at least you have an idea what to expect.
