I can't believe how many Spaniards think it's ok NOT to wear masks! British holiday makers seem to get the blame when there is a rise in covid numbers here but, when me and my husband go for a walk along the beach at Los Alcazares, there are dozens upon dozens of Spanish people who think it's ok to flout the rules! WHY?!?

It is holiday season so the police are on the beach in Speedos?

It's strange how variable people's experiences are. I've recently been in LA and felt much safer there than when I returned to the UK. The only places people continue to use masks is in supermarkets.I rarely saw anyone without a mask in LA, except in Mercadona and it was packed; no chance of social distancing. I didn't return there because of this.

In fairness Mercadona are quite strict,I've seen them stopping people from coming in if they did not adhere to their rules but there is often one or two who slip through the net but usually dealt with by management soon enough.

I agree that the seafront is crazy with many not wearing masks,I sat one evening and figured that only 10% were covered, many others only wearing them on their chin and arm and the rest not even bothering to have one! The biggest culprits are the young people who blatantly ignore the rules and probably spreading it to their families and others.Where are the parents, they are supposed to be responsible for them?.They are probably of the same attitudes These are the type of people who could bring around a second lockdown. Note: some of the younger ones wear them but only a small percentage.

I have decided to stay clear of the area until the Spanish holiday month is over.

We definitely have had different experiences of Mercadona. The only sign of COVID was the hand sanitiser at the entrance and no one used it while I was there. Inside it was packed and I saw hardly anyone wearing a mask - in fact, I can't actually remember seeing anyone wearing one but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. This was in stark contrast to everywhere else I went to in LA, including the beach area.

Sorry to hear that.

Have been to Mercadona in San Javier at least 6 times in the past 3 weeks and have had the exact opposite experience.

Every time we have been there, every single person followed the rules, sanitised their hands and all wore masks! Management stop people coming in if they don't abide by rules.

Can't believe the difference.

Back in the U.K., it is clear to see which age groups follow the rules - and also which age groups are the most dangerous to approach.

Very telling set of figures & very much in line with what we are seeing in in our area of the UK.

The 20 - 29 year old age group have always thought they were invincible !!
