Agree totally. My daughter works in a care home which is in lock down. They had 9 residents in quarantine, 48 residents in total. They have plastic aprons and gloves supplied, however, there are 300 face masks locked in a drawer, which the manager will not issue. They apparently have to pay for a...

...ny more if they run out !! We supplied our daughter with a mask, ( she has a weak left lung and is prone to pneumonia and pleuracy). When she went into work, some of the other staff laughed at her, but she took no notice, and continued to wear it for the rest of her 12 1/2 hour shift. The manager came in the following morning, and told her she was not allowed to wear it. This angered and upset my daughter, but she went in the following night for her shift. One of the residents coughed straight into her face when she was helping her into bed. None of the staff or residents have been tested as yet for covid 19. How disgraceful is this, when she is putting herself on the line for others.

Where is this care home ?. Best if it is named and shamed. Daughter may be better off not working for such a guy as the manager. Perhaps his salary depends on profit margins !, cost of masks deducted from his bonus etc. Shame on him.

It's in the North East of the UK Robbie. Her manager is a woman, who practices safe distancing at work !! She sits in her safe office all day, never having to be hands on with the residents. My daughter is stressed to bits, so she is going to go on the sick. If the manager would've just let her protect herself  thus being responsible to both the residents and herself and work colleagues.

This is beyond belief! This woman should be tried for crime against humanity.

Best thing she can do, spend the time checking around for a better place to work .
Shame on that woman, should also be featured in a local paper plus the Sun and The Mirror . If the residents and staff do go sick with the virus make the circumstances public. She is not fit to run a care home.

One thing that seems strange is your FACTS I quoted no facts just that it was suggested that because it was getting better it was relaxing the situation I disagree with that

It is a fact, workers on buildings and in the fields.

Since I started this thread, it has gone to show how bad things are here and the uk but what I do not understand is the death toll in the uk is such a higher percentage that that in Spain, daily 475 spain 875 uk is the uk that far behind medically and my wife is a carer in the uk and is on lockdown there  but sees people ignoring it daily and it was reported of a person having a bbq party of 25 people when police arrived he said I will do as I like, obv where the difference in figures are

I am in the uk and YES you do see people flouting the rules especially over Easter when we had a mini heatwave

In London where it was worst they now feel the numbers are going down and that many more people seem to understand the benefits of the lockdown

That being said it was reported yesterday of a family driving to the coast because they were bored. The driver had no licence or not and none of his kids had seatbelts on but I guess there are complete idiots wherever you live

We also seem to have an issue with distribution of PPE equipment and adequate testing

Don't know the real answers as to why as someone always wants to make political gains so no idea as to the real truth (the other day a labour minister claimed Boris did not have the virus but was in hospital for something else, but did not elaborate exactly what...!!)

Think we are getting there slowly but still a way to go yer

Yes, agree with CFC. There are still idiots doing what they want. The law here is not as strict as in Spain, no large fines or police presence where I live. The government in my opinion were slow off the blocks, advising for sooo long to wash your hands regularly, whilst singing happy birthday twice! We now have these "pop up" nightingale hospitals which have cost billions, the largest in London has a capacity for 4000 patients. We were told initially that there were 16,000 staff ready to man it..... However, now we learn, there has only been 60 patients treated, more than that amount have been turned away, as there aren't the staff to treat them! What on earth is going on there? It makes a mockery of the government. For some reason, this question hasn't been asked during the daily live updates. As I have mentioned before in this thread, there are huge issues with PPE, lack of supply, or in my daughters case, a manager with masks, who wouldn't issue them, nor allow my daughter to wear one which we had provided, even though 9 residents of the care home were being isolated with signs of covid 19. She is now on the sick, and looking for another job. As for Boris Johnson, I also have my doubts. He was in intensive care for days, having 24hrly observations, needing only oxygen, not a ventilator. When he was discharged, he waved his way out of the hospital, thanking staff etc. I have seen footage of other patients being transferred from intensive care to general care and they still look absolutely dreadful, and at deaths door. There have been numerous interviews with patients recovering from the virus, pleading with the public to stay at home, whilst still clearly fighting for the breath to get their message across....... Then, on comes Boris after being discharged, who to the opposite extreme, doesn't come up for air whilst thanking the nursing staff for saving his life, as it could have gone either way? Something doesn't add up there. Stay safe everyone, we will beat this terrible virus.

Boris will reappear as soon a no blame can be levelled at him for any short comings, he was ill of course. He showed us how to wash our hands, on tv no less, to avoid the bug, brilliant example that turned out to be.

He made a broadcast saying that the best method was to allow everyone to get the virus and so build up natural immunity. In the same speech he said every family must be prepared to be and accept losing a loved one. It is there and on record, brilliant advice ?. Of course not his fault as he was only following the best advice from his top advisors about how to deal with the threat.

Once the job became difficult he fell ill and had to hand over responsibility to someone else. On his last speech before entering hospital he did not cough once, not once !. Upon his release from a near death experience he still did not cough or really fight for breath.

He is a good rabble rouser and very good at put himself forward, he is not a natural leader, he has been involved in many questionable activities in his private life.

He would not be the correct leader faced with a situation like Winston Churchill had for six long years, six days seemed his limit.

The U.K. has not actually made any laws about staying home etc., not laws like Spain has , it has always said, “ advice” or “ guide lines to follow “. No wonder the police became confused.

Country in crisis with no effective leader.
Only my opinion, not trying to force it on anyone else. But I am entitled to it.

If you watch the news on TV you’ll know how they reported the reasons behind the scandalous lack of PPE.

But can any of us ever believe the media or politicians? I live in Spain now, but left UK last year after 72 years of being a Brit and it still never ceases to amaze me just how moronically stupid some people can be. And they’re usually the ones who think they’re sooo clever and can do whatever they like. (You know who you are!)

They’re just perpetuating the problem. Are the British authorities frightened of telling them what to do like the Spanish? Don’t get me wrong, there are idiots here too, but we have had not even been allowed to go out for a walk unless we own a dog. Too much freedom over there has allowed the idiots to abuse the privilege and I suspect may have created these higher figures sadly.
