I would like to retire to this area, but unfortunately, it cant happen for another 4 years.  I am looking for advice to whether to buy a house now and use for holidays etc, or wait until after Brexit and pray that I will be able to retire fully to Spain, without restrictions.

Does anyone else think that there will be restrictions of possibly 3 months (Visa) usage only per year of homes after Brexit?

Hi Anne, it's impossible to know what will happen after Brexit but with 2 years to go before retirement I have just brought a house near to Los Alcazares anyway.

I could have waited, but I suspect the Brexit issue could take many years to settle and 3 months a year in Spain on a visa will still be better than being stuck in Brexit Britain for 12 months a year particularly if Jeremy Corban is in charge!

I agree Andy, I bought an apartment and a house in the last 9 months and i'm guessing not a lot will change but who knows as you say 3 months would be better than 12 stuck in blighty

It's 90 days In 180, I thought, so that means 2 x 3 months a year? Mind I might be wrong, we have just bought on Condado de Alhama, but that's the way I read it. Thought the major thing was proof of income for a couple rising to €38.000 per year if we leave.

Hi,

I have just sold my property in England want to semi retire in Spain, I have an English n Irish passport.  I want to only come back to England on special occasions.  I did check it out re Brexit, was advised this would not effect me buying in Spain.  But concerned about your  comments???

I really think it is a case of don't panic, wait & see...........

Nobody really knows what the hell is happening or what is going to happen.

I have looked into this also.  In the worst case scenario it will be on Schengen visa terms which means 90 days in a 180 day period.  So two 90 day periods within a calendar year.  Google Schengen visa for more information.  Nobody knows yet.
