No???

Yes of course you can.

I would check the criteria with your Spanish lawyer if you have on.

Or seek professional advice from someone in the uk.

Don’t rely on forums.

A lot of people make the mistake of selling there up home to move over, then after a period of time it’s not for them, then can’t move back due to financial reasons.

So do all your homework

Yes, but it will be more difficult.

The current requirements to be granted Residency in Spain include (among other things)

- demonstrating income

- demonstrating healthcare.

It is anticipated that the income requirement will increase significantly post-Brexit, from 7500 Euros per year now to 24000 Euros per year (although the exact number is elusive).

If you gain Residency before end 2020, you will continue to receive healthcare in Spain (paid for by the UK) at your normal UK retirement age. If you gain Residency after 2020, there is not yet an agreement in place for the UK to pay for your healthcare in Spain, and there may never be one, so you will have to budget for your own healthcare.

Let's hope the EU doesn't reciprocate with the kind of immigrant restrictions announced by the UK Government today (17 Feb). These conditions would make it impossible for many retirees to even consider moving to EU countries like Spain etc. And EU immigration policy will be an EU-wide decision and not a Spanish, or French one. Bit concerning for those thinking of moving abroad.
