Any updates on Corvera Airport. Didn’t realise that some airlines had pulled out. Have just booked Ryanair flights for June 2020 and don’t fancy having to travel even further away from Los Alcázares, to Alicante Airport. Just wish they would open San Javier to commercial flights again.
Whatever anybody says about Corvera airport San Javier is never ever going to open again to passenger flights.
Very annoying for me as instead of half an hour drive I now have 1.5 hours drive !!

Sad but true - never in the history of man has a politician ever said they were wrong, and gone back on a decision - no matter how poor the decision has proven to be.

Just my view of course, but if Corvera is to be a great success there will have to be more than two buses a day to the Mar Menor resorts, and taxi fares will have to be cheaper. I used to pay around 15 euros from San Javier to Los Alcazares and now I pay 50 euros. The transfers are nearly as much as the cost of the flight...

I didn't know there was a Spanish politician as a member of this forum.......

Don't apologise Abbey67, all are entitled to an opinion, even if others are more opinionated than others. I'm with you, Corvera is a good move for us, 30 minutes rather than 90 minutes to Alicante. Just wish our family would use it to visit us 😪. True winter schedules from UK are light but "in season" RMU is busier. Once people realise that Alicante is not the only option now hopefully RMU will really get going.🤞

I agree Abbey67......I really like Corvera airport, love the design and easy access and throughout the summer we had family and friends fly into RMU with the wonderful Ryanair from Birmingham and Luton (if you don't like Ryanair don't fly with them and if you do fly with them then please don't moan)...and some have already booked the same route for 2020...
As for those bemoaning the loss of San Javier ....... nothing is forever and the biggest issue for people is that they now have to adapt to change....and drive a little further or pay a little more for transfer but we all enjoyed the cheap and easy access times when available so now it's a case of dig a little deeper and get on with it......
I too have enjoyed excellent car hire experiences with Goldcar, Firefly and RecordGo......
San Javier was never intended to be full time commercial airport as it has gone back to the military. Yes San Javier was a lot closer to LA and other resorts, but life goes on, either bite the bullet and pay for taxi's or hire a car and see more of Spain.
I'd like to know how to get a hire car for 8 euro's a week, usually pay 100 euro's..

Hi Abbie
Do you use a comparison web site to achieve low hire rate from Goldcar?

" hire a car and see more of Spain."
Just what the struggling Los Alcazares needs.....family who have an apartment here and have holidayed several times a year took one look and went off to Benidorm for a couple of nights, then spent two days on the beaches of Zenia. They were reluctant to be out at night in Los Alcazares after reading of muggings on three Friday nights.
