I learned through the news that there is a dicussion (EU) going on how to refund flight, hotels.....the though is to give vouchers for later to keep the hotels, airlines ect. In business
A view from the other side of the coin:
On another forum I found this answer to the same question: just think about it……
I fully understand your frustration re refund. But try to understand the future: you would like to have "affordable" priced flights. If the airlines go bust that is it, only the big can get through this. If there will no competition the price goes up in the air. What should the government fund: your wellbeing or your "fun" we (the taxpayer) will get the invoice (increase of tax) to pay after this war against corona is finished. All the money is spent now to survive we will have to be payed back. It will be hard times for all of us. Be happy to have a voucher for your next travel. If the government has to bail out every company who has problems, I think I would take my own live because I cannot pay the tax they would have to charge. After this we still have to pay tax for the "as we known have had in the past" - little things in our daily life.
When I am dead the government will pay my pension to your airline that then will refund your airfare......

Just had flights we booked for my parents cancelled, opted for voucher rather than refund as intend to rebook when able to, confirmation received, less than 24hrs from request. Voucher is valid for a year so hopefully can rebook flights for later this year.

I have just been back on site now it just says canceled but if they had said that they would knock off a certain discount for what will be a hell of a hike in price then I would have gone for voucher, but I will now have to contact them next week to find out, it was also the first time I had bothered about insurance for cancellation? Good luck and stay safe.

Did you actually get a voucher. ( a picture?) We got an email saying we have received a voucher, but it stated a voucher code.

It is the voucher code you need to enter when booking a new flight online

That's all you get. At this time no need to add to workload of the royal mail (is mail still getting through in the UK?) Our voucher is valid for one year from the date l requested it.
Yes the mail is getting through ok in the UK.
We wipe all the letters we receive and the letterbox with disinfectant.
