Bit ofca hot topic that.  I asked this question on another site and got a multitude of answers.  I think if you don't live your life as tho u r on holiday then it seems you can.  Electricity is expensive.  Some say budget 80-100 euros a month.  If u r not of retirement age then u need to lay for healthcare if u be one a resident (spend more than 183 days in total in Spain in their calendar year which us jan-dec) this can be 60 -90 euros a month per person.  We have allowed 1500 per month but it's not tried and tested yet.

Yes you can live on that budget, generally the cost of living is lower than in the Uk

Hi. We've been in Spain for about a year now. We have a budget of around £1400 per month. We find it to be plenty, and have spare cash at the end of the month unless we're buying things for the house. Electricity is more expensive than UK, but if you accept that then you'll be fine. We also run a car, and eat out regularly.

Hope you'll be here soon. Enjoy. We're in Santiago de la Ribera.

Thanks for reply. We are coming out in june for a few days to find somewhere to rent for about a year.with a veiw to driving out end sept and look for a perm home in the right area .santiago is on our list of places to visit. We  are taking very early retirement and living life a bit.instead of the drag of 12 hours a day working.kind regards mark
