It would seem that though Los Lcazares etc is suffering due to the rain we had and the damage it did that was advertised worldwide

But today I collected one of our daughters from corvera only to find only 2 flights today one at 10 am gatwick

Then one at 20:00

How can the airport let alone the local resorts that are desperate for visitors possibly survive with just two flights and people flying into Alicante can find equally nice places before arriving at Los alcazares

I believe with no advertising and no encouragement for visitors to come here soon we. Will become a village again we also have 9 juegos in Los alcazares so local and visitors can lose all their money making tax for the town but nothing to encourage visitors Los alcazares

could soon however become Los Vegas of Spain or a wasteland with a lot of broke people

The airport has been busy all summer, I live 15 mins from Corvera and have heard and seen planes taking off and landing. The number if flights have been reduced recently between the UK and Corvera but remember there are a lot of other nationalities living here and planes fly to other destinations. There are also internal flights between Madrid and Corvera.

I know there are lots of people suffering from rose-tinted disease but there is a limit on how much things should be talked up.

Latest stats from RMU are:

  • #1 LGW 7 flights/week #2 BRS 3 flights/week #3 STN 3 flights/week #4 MAN 3 flights/week#5 ANR 2 flights/week
  • #6 DUB 2 flights/week #7 BHX 2 flights/week #8 CRL 2 flights/week #9 SEN 2 flights/week#10 LPA 2 flights/week
  • So that is 5 UK destinations, 2 Belgian 1 Irish and 1 Canaries - nothing to Madrid and all the UK flights from the South except Manchester and Birmingham.
  • An abysmal level of flights and giving up on most of the North.

Obviously anyone living within spitting distance of corvera will claim the airport is doing really, really, well. Not true, unfortunately. We can't fly into corvera now. They have scrapped our route along with other routes to/from the uk. I keep an eye on the arrivals/departures at corvera. I'm quite shocked there is only 2 or 3 flights a day. Another white elephant? san javier was extremely successful. Corvera is too far out in the sticks.

I for one really like Corvera, yes unfortunately earlier this month due to the change to the winter flight schedule we were unable to fly into RMU and had to fly into ALC, but at Christmas and in Feb we are flying into RMU. Sometimes we have to use STN and sometimes LGW even though we live about a 10 min drive from NWI airport - no flights from there into Spain at all. Maybe as a local resident I should start a campaign to close our local airport as it doesn't fly to where I want to go when I want to go there - but how does that benefit anybody. Yes, sometimes you have to travel to/from an airport that is not on your doorstep, for us, almost 3 hours, but I don't tend to moan about such things. For some people there are more important things to worry about. Just my thoughts.

How can anyone think that this can continue it is losing millions each month it remains open and a prev person said that local flights plus hear loads of flights

Must be on tv ??

One flight today there are no local flights why pretend it is losing money and people who do not fly are paying for it but at least you do not get annoyed about airplane noise unless the prev person who hears flights all day must be an echo

Corvera is only 25 mins drive from LA so hardly the sticks. I go to Turkey frequently and the taxi 1.50 hours from Dalaman to Fethiye. It's never put me off. Of course it's disappointing San Javier has closed to commercial flights but it's happened so we have to live with it. It would help if Corvera bus service improved as the taxi prices are horrendous for such a short journey. Apart from that, there is too much unhelpful pessimism around and that in itself is discouraging people from coming here. Many will be coming for the first time so a 25 mins trip will be trivial compared with other holiday areas.
