I wouldn’t swim in it as it doesn’t look very appealing, lots of green algae. As to whether it is safe, I don’t think it’s a danger to anyone. Plenty do swim in it.

Parts are better than others. However I wouldn’t swim in it although a lot of people do and don’t come to any harm. Some days are better than others.

It's a shame, I think potential buyers in Los Alcazares might be put off by the state of the water and instead look at areas with a med coastline. Could eventually affect property prices.

It’s criminal it’s one of the prettiest spots around. Has lost its blue flag status for several years now.

It is a pity,I'll be honest, although I do like the Los Alcazares area, I wish I had bought in La Zenia area. However, not worth it, by the time estate agents get their fee for selling plus the tax on buying I'm not prepared to end up losing money. I don't know too much about the problem with the water, have researched a bit online, and it seems to say the water won't ever return to what it was a few years ago.

I continue to read about conflicting causes regarding the Mar Menor water. There is no simple answer. I have seen people continuously raking the ‘algi’ pollution but it’s a losing battle. No sooner have they cleared an area that the problem returns. It’s such a beautiful area that it’s sad nothing noticeably positive can be done.
