Wondered if anyone can tell me what happening in Los alcazares at the moment regarding restaurants, bars, beaches also whether the Menor is safe for bathing. I realise everyone has different opinions but wanted a general consensus if possible. Have family coming in August don’t really know what to tell them although know everything could change by then. We are there in September can’t wait. Thanks

Hi, there are lots of places open, bars, cafes and restaurants however some are functioning at less than full capacity....so if you have favourites you may want to book and plan ahead to avoid the busier times/bigger crowds....it may be a case of going out to eat earlier and we all have to abide by new rules and alter our usual socialising patterns until we can go about our day to day lives free of COVID.....
The street markets are back up and running.
As all of the Spanish regions are now open and it’s the start of the ‘usual’ Spanish getaway people will be travelling to LA and the neighbouring towns so public spaces will be busy.
I read on Murcia Today areas of the Mar Menor were dredged but it’s a personal decision as to wether you swim in it....lots of people do.
With a few tweaks to what we normally do a good time can still be had enjoying the fab weather and outside living ......

We must live in different towns! I walked along the prom on Sunday and the beach was packed as were the bars and restaurants on the front. Loads of people in the sea, no sign of sea weed either and latest report on Murcia Today states that the water has a depth visibility of 4.2 meters. It looked clean to me but I don't like swimming in the sea anyway. TBH if you didn't know their was a health crises the town and beach looks normal, only thing that gives it away is people wearing masks in shops.

Took a bike ride with hubby along the Mar Menor Beaches all the way to Los Alcáceres. We even stopped and sat in a café for tapas only to admire the beauty and the sparkling cleanliness along the beaches. No bad smell at all including when we were riding with the breeze hitting our face. It's amazing what different people experience in the same place due to the vantage point of each. So grateful to be able to get out and smell the roses!
